I was asked to speak at an Internet / Social Media conference in Iceland a while ago.
Ratsjá the company I work for has probably the most experience in Social Media Marketing in Iceland, so I was asked to give some Icelandic examples and our input into social media marketing in Iceland focusing on Facebook.
I'm sorry that the lecture is in Icelandic but many of my readers are local. To summarize the lecture:
a. We're flying a plane that's still being built, but it's still old fashioned marketing
b. Think before you act, there are many potholes on the road to social media glory
c. Be strategic in what you do, especially on B2B level.
d. Media Mix, don't do only social media be a chameleon
e. Trial and error, constantly try new things, variations and strategies. You can sharpen your segmentation while monitoring the results.
f. Monitor, learn, implement
g. Have fun! "Products are made in the factory, but brands are created in the mind."
