At Ratsja we´ve been working on quite a few social media campaigns lately. We're really looking into how it actually works compared with traditional web advertising. Still we haven't managed to do a quantitative research that backs our case but we've been very satisfied with the results. We're fully aware that most of the time these are not stand alone procedures but in some cases it might be the only option. The key to social media and web 2.0 will always be the interaction between people and not the medium so it is essential to get a grip on the actual interaction that happens between the participants and the brand (It does not make any sense to use the word consumers here while the discussion is seldom on that note). That said the tools are still very important for us the musketeers of marketing. So ever since Mark Zuckerberg CEO of Facebook introduced the Facebook Connect, we've been watching. Still we haven't got a real opportunity to use it on a large scale but we're patient. A nice Icelandic example is Hugmyndaráðuneytið (e. The innovation cabine)which is an open think tank for entrepreneurs and innovators trying to get Iceland back on track. Below is the Zuckerberg's talk on f8 last year on Facebook Connect.
